Guest Chef Dinner at Easy Bistro with Simone & Michelle Bonelli
On Tuesday, July 9th, Easy Bistro is welcoming Simone & Michelle Bonelli for a guest chef dinner (perhaps their most exciting one yet).
Chef Simone Bonelli was born and raised in Modena, Italy, and began his culinary career in 2002 at Osteria Francescana under Chef Massimo Bottura. Osteria Francescana is widely considered one of the best restaurants in the world, and has twice taken the #1 spot in the prestigious list, “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.” In 2008, he moved to NYC to continue his culinary career at some of the highest caliber restaurants around the city, and in 2015, he launched La Pecora Bianca, where he worked with Chef Joe Milenkovic (Easy Bistro’s chef de cuisine). Joe considers Chef Bonelli to be his first real mentor — showing him what true, regional, ingredient-focused Italian cuisine really was.
Also at the dinner, Chef Bonelli will be joined by his wife, Michelle Biscieglia, who is a certified sommelier. Michelle worked at Blue Hill in NYC as wine director, later overseeing the entire beverage program and serving as GM, before beginning her own business as a creative culinary producer (where she now works with chefs like Dan Barber, Rene Redzepi, Massimo Bottura, Alice Waters and Daniel Boulud). Michelle will be collaborating with Chef Erik Niel to offer wines by the glass and optional pairings with each course. This is the first time Easy Bistro will be welcoming a guest sommelier.
The menu is still being determined, but highlights from Chef Bonelli will likely include focaccia service, roasted oysters, vegetable-centric small plate, pasta (of course!), pork dish with stone fruit, polenta, and a dessert. No tickets are required, but reservations are recommended (and people should plan to come on the earlier side if they want to be able to try all of Chef Bonelli’s dishes).
