City Center has access to educational opportunities for students of all ages through Hamilton County public schools and private schools. Battle Academy, a STEAM-designated magnet school, welcomes students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Nearby private schools in the area include Baylor School, Girls Preparatory School, McCallie School, Chattanooga Christian School, The Montessori School, and Notre Dame High School. As for higher education, downtown houses the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, a public, four-year university offering 167 undergraduate and graduate programs across five different colleges.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

Premier healthcare systems CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital, Erlanger, and Parkridge Health System are conveniently located in City Center and Southside. Residents also have access to family medical, dental, and pharmaceutical services in the area. Other services, including those offered by Kindred Hospital, Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Chattanooga, and Siskin Children’s Institute are also readily available.

TRANSPORTATION

Residents in the area are close to I-24, I-75, and Highway 27, which allow for quick access to the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport and roads leading to Nashville, Birmingham, Atlanta, and Knoxville.

GROCERY STORES

There are several small food markets that dot City Center, whereas larger grocery chains – including Whole Foods and Publix – are accessible just across the river in Northshore. 

ATTRACTIONS & ENTERTAINMENT

Some of Chattanooga’s most popular attractions lie in the heart of City Center, including family-friendly stops like the Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, Southern Belle Riverboat, and the Chattanooga Pinball Museum. Other downtown activities include catching a performance at the Tivoli Theatre, set to reopen this year, or a movie at the IMAX Theater or AMC Majestic 12.

City Center has no shortage of eateries to satisfy every craving and fit every budget. Handcrafted coffee, Southern dining, international cuisines, bars and pubs, and so much more abound in the area.

SHOPPING

Just off Market and Broad Streets, downtown Chattanooga offers an exceptional shopping experience with luxury retailers, locally owned boutiques, specialty gift shops, and handcrafted artisan goods. In nearby West Village, visitors can explore upscale boutiques and unique floral designs.

PARKS & SPORTS

The 16-mile Chattanooga Riverwalk runs through City Center, offering plenty of space for running and walking, while Miller Park houses green space and a stage for community events. The Riverfront Parks are proposed to undergo major revitalization with construction beginning this year, offering new play space, recreation zones, and more for locals and visitors to enjoy. As for sports, climbers will enjoy High Point Climbing and Fitness, boasting 30,000 square feet of climbing space, as well as fitness classes. An award-winning golf course can be found at the nearby Black Creek Club.

FESTIVALS

Riverfront Nights and Nightfall Concert Series feature free live music throughout the summer, and in the fall, the 3 Sisters Bluegrass Festival takes over City Center for a free two-day festival showcasing some of the biggest names in the genre. Movie buffs will enjoy the Chattanooga Film Festival, a nonprofit organization celebrating films and filmmakers with a week of screenings, workshops, and more. The family-friendly Chattanooga Motorcar Festival showcases classic cars, cutting-edge designs, and more in a packed three-day event.

ARTS

Overflowing with European charm, the Bluff View Art District offers culinary and visual arts alongside the Tennessee River. History and art collide at the Hunter Museum of American Art, Houston Museum of Decorative Arts, and River Gallery. Nearby, the public can enjoy works of art in the River Gallery Sculpture Garden at no charge. Also located in City Center, the Bessie Smith Cultural Center celebrates and preserves African-American history with a museum, performance hall, and community events.
