Designer home community The Fields at Huntley Meadows and gated community Lakeshore Cove are popular neighborhoods in the Fort Oglethorpe area. Bridlewood is one of Ringgold’s newest subdivisions, and other in-demand neighborhoods in and around Ringgold include the Pine Lakes subdivision, Homestead Estates, The Pointe, Stonebrooke, and Creeks Jewell. 

North Georgia residents can make use of highways I-75 and I-59 for convenient access to Atlanta and Birmingham. I-75 also provides quick access to Downtown Chattanooga.

Catoosa and Walker counties boast more than 30 public schools, including Heritage High School, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, Ringgold High School, LaFayette High School, and Ridgeland High School. Chickamauga’s Oakwood Christian Academy is a private Christian school serving preschoolers through 12th graders. 

There is no shortage of family medical, dental, and pharmaceutical care throughout North Georgia. Located in Fort Oglethorpe, CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia provides emergency, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and outpatient treatments, along with medical and surgical services. A little further south in Dalton, Hamilton Health Care System offers major medical, surgical, and diagnostic services, including award-winning, accredited stroke and chest pain centers.

Several big box stores and national brands selling apparel, shoes, furniture, and more are available in Fort Oglethorpe. Stable 41, a new farmers market in Fort Oglethorpe, is open to the public on Sundays from May through October. Ringgold has a selection of boutiques and home goods stores along Nashville Street. Further south in Dalton, the Dalton Mall features Belk, Gimme A $5, and more than 20 specialty stores.

Grocery chain Food City serves the cities of Rossville and Fort Oglethorpe. Fort Oglethorpe is additionally home to a Walmart Neighborhood Market and Walmart Supercenter as well as Save A Lot. Heading toward Ringgold, shoppers will find Walmart Supercenter and Publix Super Market at Boynton Ridge Plaza, while Ringgold proper has a United Grocery Outlet, Ingles Markets, and Food Lion. Along I-75, Costco Wholesale is a popular spot for finding a variety of food items.

A variety of national chains and locally owned eateries call North Georgia home. Diners can find everything from barbecue, burgers, and pizza to traditional Southern fare. 

An afternoon spent on the South Chickamauga Creek is easy to enjoy thanks to several canoe launch points located around Catoosa County. The Ringgold Creek Walk is a newly constructed walk that takes advantage of the South Chickamauga Creek and connects the Highway Commercial district to the Historic Downtown district. The creek also borders Elsie A. Holmes Nature Park, a popular spot for walking, fishing, and picnics. Ringgold’s Jack Mattox Complex hosts baseball and softball tournaments throughout the year, while Fort Oglethorpe’s Gilbert-Stephenson Park attracts crowds with its public swimming pool, tennis courts, walking tracks, and more.

Straddling the Tennessee/Georgia border, Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park is a popular summertime destination for families. Steeped in Civil War history, nearby Chickamauga is home to the Gordon-Lee Mansion and a stone’s throw from the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park. The Historic Ringgold Train Depot, built in 1849, is the cornerstone of the city of Ringgold’s rich history, while the Georgia Winery – the Chattanooga Valley’s oldest and most celebrated winery – produces award-winning fine wines and is open for visits and Saturday tours.
