The Scenic City has more than its fair share of outdoor sporting opportunities, many of which aren’t for the faint of heart. With mountains surrounding the city and rivers and lakes easily accessible there are plenty of adventures to choose from.

With the Tennessee River and Chickamauga Lake a stone’s throw from downtown Chattanooga, there’s ample fun to be had. In fact, the stretch of waterway snaking from the Chickamauga Dam to Nickajack Dam is over 50 miles long and provides both visitors and residents with several access points for water sports of all kinds.

In Chattanooga’s immediate vicinity is Chickamauga Lake, which is a popular destination for flatwater sports and is a great place for sailing, boating, or riding jet skis. Don’t have a boat or jet skis? Not a problem! Not only are there plenty of boat and jet ski sales and rental locations in the area, but you can also rent things like canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards for a day of family fun on the lake.
