Only a short commute from Ooltewah, Wolftever Creek features a greenway that connects bicyclists, walkers, and runners to nearby parks. St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church holds the annual Blessing of the Animals, which commemorates the church’s patron saint’s love for animals and the environment. Festival activities include a short liturgy, a pet parade, a petting zoo, and pet adoption sponsored by local rescue organizations. The Melon Fest, another annual festival hosted at the Ooltewah Farmers Market, features line dancing, seed spitting contests, and plenty of watermelon-themed items. Ooltewah is also home to an Oktoberfest and Christmas celebration each year.

Ooltewah features The Honors Course, a 400-acre private golf course that has played host to several amateur competitions. Other notable clubs in the area include Council Fire Golf Club, Brown Acres Golf Course, Concord Golf Club, and The Ooltewah Club, formerly The Champions Club at Hampton Creek. Pool parties and swimming lessons can be found at the Ooltewah Swim Center, while baseball games arranged by the Snow Hill Recreation League can be enjoyed in the fall and spring.
