Come as you are. Forget about performing or dancing perfectly. We invite you to release judgments and expectations. Give yourself permission to move how you want to move and feel what there is to feel.
The goal of Ecstatic Dance Chattanooga is to harness the power of movement and music, using them as tools to access liberation while also providing alcohol-free nightlife twice a month.

What is Ecstatic Dance?
Ecstatic Dance is a freeform dance and a worldwide community that creates dance space to express ourselves through movement, unlocking inspiration, and allowing the soundscape to take you on a journey.

The soundscape of Ecstatic Dance is provided by trained DJs who help facilitate the journey and mix the music during a 1.5-2 hour set. Most sets will have a blend of genres, which helps us to access our full spectrum of emotions. The flow of the dance is curated to allow dancers to go on a deep journey, with high peaks in the middle and a soft, integrative landing.
The soundscape of Ecstatic Dance is provided by trained DJs who help facilitate the journey and mix the music during a 1.5-2 hour set. Most sets will have a blend of genres, which helps us to access our full spectrum of emotions. The flow of the dance is curated to allow dancers to go on a deep journey, with high peaks in the middle and a soft, integrative landing.

Setesh Free is a multi-faceted visionary who has been a facilitator of embodied practices since 2016 as an event producer, DJ & singer-songwriter. Formerly the Events Director at Lost Valley Permaculture Center near Eugene, Oregon, they helped to produce & DJ over 50+ overnight ecstatic dance immersions from 2016-2022.
Setesh Free is a multi-faceted visionary who has been a facilitator of embodied practices since 2016 as an event producer, DJ & singer-songwriter. Formerly the Events Director at Lost Valley Permaculture Center near Eugene, Oregon, they helped to produce & DJ over 50+ overnight ecstatic dance immersions from 2016-2022.
Setesh has since DJ’d at events around the globe while also curating events & full tours as the founder of Reciprocity Music, an international booking agency & event production collective for conscious musicians.
Utilizing elements of deep bass, organic house & percussive rhythms w/ live vocals, the music is guided in a multi-rhythmic wave to support connection to the earth and each other.

The format and flow varies from dance to dance. You are not required to participate in any part of this which does not feel alive for you. It is ok to sit/rest/observe at any time. Most dances allow you to arrive and leave when you wish, but some dances do close the doors at a certain point in the night.

– If you would like to Dance with someone else, please make sure they are able to give their consent to dance with you before touching them or entering their field. If you are not sure, or their eyes are closed, it is a No. Please respect any No, and try not to take it personally.
– How to say “No” nonverbally? Turn Away, Move Away, Hand(s) at Your Heart (prayer gesture)
– How to say “Yes” nonverbally? Turn Toward, Move Closer, Extend a Hand (open palm)
