Meaningful community engagement is difficult in urban planning but essential for developing viable long-term plans — grounded in culture, history, arts, and community — that can succeed. What exactly does conscious and centered community-engaged planning look like? Why is it essential? In this talk urban planner Rhae Parkes and creative strategist Erika Roberts discuss the lessons, challenges, and rewards of meaningful engagement, drawing on lessons from the field nationwide and right here in Chattanooga.
