Breweries + Distilleries
The Scenic City is gaining acclaim as a top destination for beer lovers thanks to its growing landscape of taprooms and breweries. With local brews ranging from IPAs to stouts, there is a libation to be found for everyone. Brewmasters and cicerones at the area’s establishments use eclectic flavors and simple ingredients to create award-winning drinks. Some breweries have even branched out into the world of kombucha, while other establishments are loyal to exclusively creating fermented teas. If you are new to the beer scene and are looking to discover your favorite brews, several locations across the city offer a wide range of small pours and taps, which allow customers to try a combination of regional and national beers. Chattanooga also plays host to multiple beer and brewer festivals, offering attendees the opportunity to sample beers while enjoying food vendors, live music, and more.
Chattanooga was once home to over 30 distilleries in the late 1800s. A few decades later, prohibition forced many distilleries and distributors to close up shop, but now, Chattanooga has revived its rich history with an unmatched mix of distilleries. An assortment of both experimental and artisanal drinks are available at the traditional and micro distilleries around the city. Whiskey remains the prominent spirit in Chattanooga; however, establishments also create craft rums, vodkas, and gins. Other distilleries without tasting rooms serve their beverages in restaurants and package rooms around town. Distillery spirits are even commonplace at many of the festivals that Chattanooga offers throughout the year.
