Tracing its history in the Chattanooga area to 1892, Southern Adventist University was established by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and provides educational programs for associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in a variety of areas, as well as a doctoral degree in nursing and adult degree completion programs. Some degrees are available entirely online. Popular areas of study among its over 3,200 students include nursing, business, education, art, and biology. The university stresses Christian values, academic excellence, community service, and a balanced lifestyle, branding itself with the tagline “Power for Mind & Soul.” Southern is consistently recognized among “Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report and ranks No. 3 among “Most Diverse Regional Universities in the South.” This year, 35 countries and 48 states are represented by the student body.
