Tracing its history in the Chattanooga area to 1892, Southern Adventist University was established by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and provides educational programs for associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in a variety of areas, as well as a doctoral degree in nursing. Some degrees are available entirely online. Popular areas of study among its over 3,100 students include nursing, business, education, art, and biology. The university stresses Christian values, academic excellence, community service, and a balanced lifestyle, branding itself with the tagline “Power for Mind & Soul.” Southern consistently earns a top-tier ranking from U.S. News & World Report and is ranked as “one of the most diverse regional universities in the South.” Approximately 33 countries and 48 states are represented by the student body.
