School may be back in session this month, but summer break isn’t slowing down just yet. The Scenic City still has plenty of summer fun to offer for individuals and families alike. From baseball games to markets and more, there’s sure to be an event for everyone this month.
Lookouts vs. Blue Wahoos
August 1 – 4
Head to AT&T Field to back the Lookouts as they take on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos each night from Thursday to Sunday. Make sure to stay until the very end of the game on Friday to see their spectacular fireworks show. Tickets range from $8-11, and they can be purchased on the Lookouts’ website.
Pirates, Parrots, and Princesses
August 3
Ahoy there matey! The Chattanooga Zoo invites you to attend their Pirates, Parrots, and Princesses event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Featuring a treasure hunt, pirate and princess meet-and-greet, and more, it’s sure to be a blast for kids of all ages. Children 12 and under who dress in their best themed attire will be given 50% off admission!
Boogie Wonderland
August 3
Join Common House as they throw it back to the ‘70s and host a Boogie Wonderland themed pool party from 2 to 6 p.m. Open to members and non-members alike, participants can enjoy ‘70s-inspired drinks and music from three different DJs.
Family Creek Day
August 3
Join WaterWays as they host their last Family Creek Day of the summer season. Held at Audubon Acres from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., participants will help catch macroinvertebrates to collect data, learn about the South Chickamauga Creek, and figure out how to keep our waterways clean.
Maker Day
August 3
The Chattanooga Downtown Library is celebrating the 10th birthday of their Makerspace, one of the only library-situated makerspaces in Tennessee! To celebrate, the library will be offering live demos, interactive exhibits, and workshops indoors as well as lawn games and buskers outdoors.
End of Summer Skate Bash
August 5
Join Skate Station at the Chattanooga Choo Choo as they celebrate the end of summer with a groovy roller rink party. From 12 to 6 p.m., attendees can get their skate on while listening to music from DJ O. To top it off, skating will be free at this event!
Bingo for the Grove
August 10
Join the Orange Grove Center for a lively evening of cocktails, dinner, and dancing at this year’s Bingo for the Grove. Held at the Hunter Museum of American Art, this year’s programming will feature live music, a seated dinner, an engaging program, silent auction, and of course, bingo! All proceeds benefit the Orange Grove Center. Cocktail hour begins at 6:00 p.m., and bingo and the seated dinner begin at 7:00 p.m.
MAC Doggie Pool Pawty
August 10
Grab your furry friend and join the McKamey Animal Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carver Community Center for their annual summer pool party! Attendees can purchase a splash session (lasting for an hour and 30 minutes) at $20 per dog. All proceeds will go towards the McKamey Animal Center.
Wine Over Water
August 17
Head to the Walnut Street Bridge this month from 6 to 9 p.m. for the 29th annual Wine Over Water. For $125 per ticket, attendees will enjoy a tasting experience of nearly 200 different wines, along with food tastings and food pairing. This event will also feature live music. Attendees must be over 21 years of age to participate.
SPLASH Summer Arts Festival
August 17
SPLASH Youth Arts Workshop will be hosting their summer festival in Miller Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Featuring local artists, live music, food, and plenty of free art activities, this event will be a fun-filled day for the whole family.
Market Karaoke
August 18
Join the Chattanooga Market at the First Horizon Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Market Karaoke. In addition to usual market activities (like vendors, food trucks, and more), attendees have the opportunity to head up on the Lodge Cast Iron Sizzle Stage and sing their favorite tune.
StarNight
August 24
The 61st annual StarNight, Siskin Children’s Institute’s largest fundraising event, will be held at the Chattanooga Convention Center. This premier gala includes a cocktail reception, elegant dinner, silent and live auction, plus a concert performance from American singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw. All proceeds benefit the children and families served by the institute.
Repticon
August 24 & 25
Calling all reptile lovers! Repticon will be coming to Chattanooga for a two-day event at Camp Jordan. Tickets range from $10 to $15 per adult, and they are only sold online on their website. Participants can attend live animal encounters and seminars, buy reptiles and other exotic pets, and peruse a variety of vendors.
Party at Point Park
August 29
The National Park Partners will be hosting Party at Point Park on Lookout Mountain from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will feature live music, professional photos at Umbrella Rock, barbeque from C&W Cafe, and much more!
